Organisation
The University of Fribourg, which was founded in 1889, is the only completely bilingual university in the whole of Europe. Both the city of Fribourg and the University represent a meeting place of two different cultures: French and German. Building upon this cultural diversity, in December 1995, the University of Fribourg established the international institute of management in technology (iimt). The iimt, which is part of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, offers the only executive training programmes in Europe with a specific focus on ICT Management. The Institute has a wide network of contacts in over 30 universities and other renowned institutes in Switzerland and internationally.
The iimt, supported by its partners and promoters and with its active participation in ICT organisations, provides quality training on an international level. Its programmes combine the most recent theoretical management concepts with practical understanding of international ICT, giving insights into widely different cultures and attitudes and enabling conditions in other ICT markets to be understood and evaluated. In addition to developing senior management, the iimt offers a wider range of staff further training related to their own specialised fields. For this purpose, the programmes have been designed on a modular basis, with a number of innovative features.
